iGEM — Synthetic Biology (BNDS-China)

I have been part of BNDS-China at iGEM, the world’s largest synthetic-biology competition, since 2022 — as a member, as student leader of the 2024 team, and as instructor of the 2025 and 2026 teams. The team won gold medals and finished among the top 10 high-school teams in 2023, 2024, and 2025, and in 2025 also took Best Measurement and Best Part Collection.

• 2024, student leader: coordinated the team and developed a programmable probiotic platform to detect, monitor, and regulate gut metabolites to help treat or prevent gut dysbiosis. Oversaw inducible-promoter characterization, and built the dry lab — modeling genetic-circuit expression dynamics and using protein-structure prediction. Nominated for Best Wiki.
• 2025, instructor: supervised lab and outreach work, and developed computational-biology solutions for a programmable probiotic platform for feline gut health.
• 2026, instructor: instructing the current team (ongoing).
• Interviewed clinicians and synthetic biologists, organized conferences with 10+ teams, and planned the 20-person trip to the Grand Jamboree in Paris.
